Key Largo, Florida is an island town within Monroe County in the upper Florida Keys. It is the northernmost key located about 60 miles south of Miami. The island is known as the scuba diving capital of the world! In addition to the scuba diving in Key Largo there is also two state parks, tropical hardwoods, mangrove forests, nature trails, a national park, and so much more.

Approximately 11,000 people live on the island year round. There is a very small corporate presence and most of the businesses are locally owned. There is a large elementary school, 2 fire department stations, and is policed by the Monroe County Sherriff.

If you enjoy being outside or on the water this is a place that you will love. There are more scuba diving operations than there are restaurants. Diving, snorkeling, jet skis, parasailing, kayaking, or just lounging at the beach or pool is a daily activity for many.

Once you finish your daily activities plan on visiting one of the waterfront restaurants. Fresh seafood, cold drinks, and live entertainment is available all day, 7 days per week.

You will notice that the town does run on island time. Jimmy Buffett once said, “its always 5 o’clock somewhere” and in Key Largo it’s almost always 5 o’clock :).
