Advanced Open Water Scuba Certification

The Advanced Open Water scuba diving certification is your second step to underwater freedom. The class explores in greater detail the basic skills learned in the Open Water Scuba Diver class. You will learn techniques on navigation, buoyancy, and deep diving. In addition you will select specialties that interest you to further explore. The advanced class give you the ability to pick the skills you want to learn.

Course Description

Advanced Open Water Diver Course is to advance your diving skills. You do not need to be an advanced or expert diver to complete it. Many people begin the advanced diver course right after completing their open water course. The advanced open water course consists of some studying and 5 open water dives.  The deep dive and navigation dive is a requirement. The 3 additional dives are your choice. However we strongly recommend choosing the Peak Performance Buoyancy as one of your three.

The academic portion begins to teach you the mindset you should have before going underwater as well as while you are underwater. The academic section also covers the basic principle and required skills for the navigation and deep dives as well as information regarding the specialty dives that you choose. Each specialty has its own unique skill sets.

The advanced open water dives are filled with purpose. All dives are completed with your instructor. You will practice the individual techniques that complement each specialty. Deep dive will be at a depth greater than 60 feet but less than 100 feet. The navigation dive will teach more in depth compass skills and how to measure distance while you are moving underwater.

We recommend that your five dives consist of the required deep and navigation along with peak performance buoyancy, wreck dive, and last either fish identification, underwater naturalist, or search and recovery. But the choice is yours. Call us to discuss all of your options.
